Save Location

The location of your game save files for Dead Cells varies based on the operating system you're using to play the game. Don't worry, though, they're still easy to find! Check out help relevant to your operating system below.

IMPORTANT NOTE: If you're not playing via Steam (e.g. GOG), or have Steam Cloud disabled, see "Without Steam Cloud and GOG Installations" to find your save location.

By default, Dead Cells has Steam Cloud enabled. This means that your save files are stored in the cloud. Thankfully, they are also saved locally in your Steam library folder, so you can create backups, modify them, send them to friends, or do whatever else you want with them!

On Windows, Mac, and Linux, you can find your Dead Cells saves at the following location:

Steam library folder > userdata > a folder named after your SteamID3 > 588650 > remote

If that folder is empty you've probably disabled Steam Cloud: see the Without Steam Cloud help lower down on this page. And if you're not sure what to do with the above path, fear not! We've explained how to locate your game saves in more detail below.

First, go to your Steam library folder. By default, this can be found at:

Windows: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam

Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/Steam

Linux: ~/.steam/steam

If you can't find it at the default location (the location above), see this guide to locate it and then check back here.

Once in your Steam library folder:

  1. Go into the userdata folder.
  2. In the userdata folder, there is a folder for each of the Steam accounts that have played on your installation. Each folder is named after the SteamID3 of the account it relates to. If there is just one folder, go into that one. If there is more than one, go into the folder named after the SteamID3 of the account you wish to find the save files for. Search online for a SteamID3 finder to find out your SteamID3.
  3. Once in the correct folder, all you need to do is going into the 588650 folder, and then in the remote folder you can find your Dead Cells game saves!

Without Steam Cloud and GOG Installations

If you're playing Dead Cells with Steam Cloud disabled, your game saves can be found in the save folder, which is found within your installation path. See help for finding these below:

Steam

By default, Steam's save location for Steam Cloud disabled installations is:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Dead Cells\save

If that isn't where your Dead Cells saves are, see this guide to locate your Dead Cells game folder, then go into the save folder once there.

GOG

On GOG, your Dead Cells saves can be found by default at this path:

C:\Program Files (x86)\GOG Galaxy\Games\Dead Cells\save
