Save Game Location

Nier: Automata was released on 23rd February 2017 and sets itself in the hack-and-slash action video game market. It was developed by PlatinumGames, also known for popular games such as Bayonetta, Astral Chain and Vanquish, and was published by Square Enix.

As a role-playing game set in an open world environment during a war between alien machines and human robots, players take control of one of the robots to fight in combat. As players progress through the game, new missions and storylines are uncovered.

The game has received strong reviews with a score of 88% on Metacritic and 9/10 on Gamespot. In addition to this, it has won several awards including a BAFTA for Best Vocal Ensemble in a Video Game and Excellence in Technical Achievement at the SXSW Gaming Awards in 2018.Users can access Nier: Automata currently on PlayStation 4, Microsoft Windows and Xbox One.

Nier: Automata Save Location

In Nier: Automata, your games are saved in the .dat file format locally on your computer. Unless you've enabled Steam Cloud, they won't be stored in the "cloud". This means if you ever move computer, you'll need to manually transfer your save files. The good news is that they're easy to locate, you can find your Nier: Automata save files at this folder:

%UserProfile%\Documents\my games\NieR_Automata

To open up that path, simply:

  1. Open a File Explorer window, you can do this by right clicking your start menu button and clicking File Explorer
  2. Click the address bar at the top of the File Explorer window and paste %UserProfile%\Documents\my games\NieR_Automata into it
  3. Hit ENTER on your keyboard and that's you in your saves folder!
