Game Dev Tycoon has been received exceptionally well by fans with a 10/10 review score on steam and 4.8/5 on Google Play. Players have described it as the perfect game for mobile devices, as well as having easy to understand mechanics and good graphics.

The game, which is a business simulation game, allows players to create their own video game company. As players advance through the game, they enhance their development skills and invent new games to sell, gain licenses for different consoles, discover new technologies, grow their business and hire more staff, with the aim of creating a successful money-making business.

Game Dev Tycoon is currently available on a number of platforms including Android, iOS, Macintosh operating systems, Linux, Microsoft Windows and Windows RT, following its release on 10th December 2012. The game was developed by Greenheart Games, with Game Dev Tycoon being their first and only published game to date.

The Game Dev Tycoon save files location varies based on your operating system. Find help specific to your installation of the game below.

Windows

Steam

All Game Dev Tycoon save data for Steam editions on Windows is in the file__0.localstorage file, which can be found in the following folder:

%LocalAppData%\Game Dev Tycoon - Steam\Local Storage

To access that path (if you're having trouble), press WINDOWS + R to open a Run window, then paste it into the text field and hit OK.

Non-Steam

All Game Dev Tycoon save data for non-Steam editions on Windows is in the file__0.localstorage file, which can be found in the following folder:

%LocalAppData%\Game Dev Tycoon\Local Storage

To access that path (if you're having trouble), press WINDOWS + R to open a Run window, then paste it into the text field and hit OK.

Mac

Similar to Windows versions of the game, game data is all saved into one file named file__0.localstorage, you can find it on Macs at the following path:

~/Library/Application Support/Game Dev Tycoon/Local Storage

To access that path, open up a Finder window, press COMMAND + SHIFT + G, paste it into the text field, and hit Go!

Linux

If you're playing Game Dev Tycoon on a Linux-based operating system, your game save data will be in a file named file__0.localstorage in the following directory:
