Diablo 2 sets itself in the action-RPG market and is of the most successful games within its genre. As the second in the diablo series, released 3 years after its predecessor (Diablo, 1997) Diablo 2 also features an expansion, Lord of Destruction, released in 2001. The success of these two games made way for Diablo 3, released in May 2012.

The game is set within wilderness and dungeons, with three different difficulty levels which determine the rewards players will receive upon completion of levels. Gameplay involves completing a variety of quests as players progress through the different chapters of the game.

Designed by David Brevik, Erich Schaefer and Max Schaefer, Diablo 2 was developed by Blizzard North and published by Blizzard Entertainment. Available in both single and multiplayer modes, the game can be accessed on Microsoft Windows, Classic Mac OS and macOS.

For the latest versions of Diablo II on Windows, your save files (including character save files) are located in the following folder:

%UserProfile%\Saved Games\Diablo II

To access that folder, follow these steps:

Open a Run window by pressing WINDOWS + R on your keyboard, or by right clicking the start menu icon (bottom left of your screen) and clicking Run
In the text field within the Run window, paste the following path: %UserProfile%\Saved Games\Diablo II
Click OK or press ENTER on your keyboard to be taken right to your Diablo 2 saves folder!

If that folder doesn't exist, you're having trouble accessing it, or there's another problem, chances are, you're running an older version of Diablo II. If that's the case, your save files may instead be located in this folder:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Diablo II\Save

Diablo 2 Resurrected

In Diablo II Resurrected, your save files are located in a very similar location to Diablo 2. Here is the path to the save folder:

%UserProfile%\Saved Games\Diablo II Resurrected

If you're not sure what to do with that path, just follow these quick steps:

Open an Explorer window - you can do this by right clicking the Start Menu icon in the bottom left hand corner of your screen and clicking File Explorer
Paste the above path (%UserProfile%\Saved Games\Diablo II Resurrected) into the address bar at the top
Hit ENTER on your keyboard and you'll be taken straight to your saves folder, which includes game and character saves!
