Dark Souls 1 is an open world action-adventure game, which was developed by FromSoftware and published by Namco Bandai Games. It is the second game in the Souls series, having been released on the 22nd September 2011, following the release of Demon's Souls 2 years prior. The game allows the player to take on the role of an undead character, who is tasked with exploring the open-world kingdom of Lodran set out before them. Players must, while disovering various new locations and areas across the map, take down different hostile enemies and upgrade their tools and weapons as they go.

Dark Souls 1 has received both critical acclaim as well as exceptional reviews from users. It has achieved a user score of 8.9 on Metacritic, as well as earning the number 1 spot on GamesRadar+'s "The Best 100 Games Ever" list. Due to the positive responses the game received both on and after release, Bandai Namco Games later released 2 further additions to the Dark Souls series including Dark Souls 2 and 3.

Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition

If you're playing the Prepare to Die Edition of Dark Souls, you can find your save game files located in the following folder:

%UserProfile%\Documents\NBGI\DarkSouls

To go straight to that folder, follow these steps:

  1. Open up a Run window by pressing WINDOWS + R on your keyboard, or by right clicking the Start Menu icon (bottom left hand corner) and clicking Run
  2. Then, paste the above path into the text field (%UserProfile%\Documents\NBGI\DarkSouls)
  3. Finally, hit OK or press ENTER on your keyboard and you'll be taken to your Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition save location!

Dark Souls: Remastered

If you're looking for your save game files on Dark Souls: Remastered, you'll be pleased to know that you can find them in the following folder:

%UserProfile%\Documents\NBGI\DARK SOULS REMASTERED

Should you need help accessing the above path, just following these steps:

  1. Open up a Run window by pressing WINDOWS + R on your keyboard, or by right clicking the Start Menu icon (bottom left hand corner) and clicking Run
  2. Then, paste the above path into the text field (%UserProfile%\Documents\NBGI\DARK SOULS REMASTERED)
  3. Finally, hit OK or press ENTER on your keyboard and you'll be taken to your Dark Souls: Remastered save location!
